Spencer Tinkham (b. 1992) is regarded as one of the most talented and widely followed wood sculptors of his young generation. Spencer grew up along the coast of Virginia, and became enthralled with the rich variety of wildlife along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and its estuaries. As a completely self-taught artist, he developed his own artistic talent and style through relentless trial-and-error. He began carving at age eight and, with persistence, twice won the youth division in the prestigious decorative bird carving World Championship. His growing client base ranges from England, Canada, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Maine, New York, California, Texas and many other states.Spencer's fine art has beautifully painted surfaces that mimic century-old antiques. Some of the countries foremost antique folk art collectors use Spencer to restore their investment grade pieces. Refusing to rely on commercial products in his sculptures, Spencer makes most of his oil paints from scratch using raw pigment powders. Most of his pieces are constructed entirely out of materials that are salvaged along bay and river shorelines. Pieces feature a carved, TINK , signature. Tinkham sculpture encapsulates both the heart and soul of the artist, along with the rich heritage of the Chesapeake Bay region.
